Manufacturing Engineer

Full-time / Auburn Hills, Michigan, United States

Job Duties:  Plan and formulate engineering program and organize project staff according to project authorization and requirements.  Develop and implement the first stage of new products/programs within schedule.  Create technical documentation and system specifications for new projects, working on the floor with CNC machinery, PLC, and robots to provide direct engineering support to the production unit to ensure seamless operations.  Select tooling/machining strategies for the CNC program while proving the initial PPAP sample with the engineer/quality team.  Order tooling, fixtures, equipment, and gaging for assigned job.  Develop and maintain product design for compliance with engineering principles, company standards, and customer contract requirements and related specifications.  Coordinate activities concerned with technical developments, scheduling, and resolving engineering design and test problems.  Evaluate design changes, specifications, and drawing releases.  Control expenditures within limitations of project budget.  Prepare and coordinate program management including APQP, timing charts, documentation review, and implementation.  Troubleshoot manufacturing related problems including efficiency, process, and quality related concerns.  Investigate and implement cost savings measures.  Help improve existing job tool-life, cycle times, and repeatability.  Launch new products/programs including creating in-process CAD models and manufacturing drawings, developing work instructions, designing work holding, selecting tooling/machining strategies, developing CNC programs, proving out initial PPAP samples with the manufacturing team, verifying First Article Data and inspection, and troubleshooting production launch issues, including cycle time, tool cost/life, and quality.

Requirements: Bachelor’s degree or foreign academic equivalent in Manufacturing Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field.  Plus 2 years of experience in the job offered or a related occupation including Project Engineer or related experience.  Position requires 2 years of experience with CNC machinery and AutoCAD.  40hrs/week.
